Chapter History
The Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated, chartered on Saturday, June 9, 2012, becoming the 275th chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the 56th chapter in the Western Area. The Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, is dedicated to building a better community through friendship and service.
Through our signature program, the Growing and Empowering Minds 4 Success (GEMS) Leadership Program, the 51 Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter members facilitate programming and services to children and families in Denton, Cooke, Grayson, and Wise counties.
An award-winning chapter, the mission of the Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter is to empower minority and underserved youth to achieve their personal best through academic success and positive choices. Through our efforts to increase cultural awareness and provide invaluable assistance to people of color throughout the world, our chapter actively engages in STEAM-based programs that promote science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to children and teens, financial literacy and awareness courses for adults, voter education and advocacy; and the importance of nutrition and healthy living are to physical well-being.
As Black women the members of the Greater Denton County (TX) chapter recognize and strive to exhibit the core values of The Links, Incorporated through the consistent demonstration of friendship, integrity, honesty, service, commitment, family relationships, courage, respect for self and others, legacy, confidentiality, responsibility, and accountability. As a chapter that is Linked in Friendship, Connected in Service, the members of the Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter maintains our commitment to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
